Board of Directors

Shawn Lehne

Treasurer

Shawn comes to us from Fredericksburg, Texas. She has been serving her local community for over fifteen years now by volunteering in many different service organizations. Shawn is a graduate of Texas A&M University, Class of 1990, and received a BBA in Marketing. She is married to Brian Lehne (another Aggie, Class of 1987) and they have three children. Their oldest, Dustin, is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Biomedical Science and will be entering vet school at Texas A&M University in the Fall of 2014. Their daughter, Lauren, will be entering nursing school at Schreiner University also in the Fall of 2014 to obtain her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. The youngest of the bunch, Cade, will be entering 4th grade. He is involved in the Gillespie County 4-H program where he shows pigs and steers, just as his older siblings did for many years.

Shawn served on the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce’s Weinachten committee, served as 4-H Club Manager for many years, and served as the Gillespie County Adult Leader’s Association President and Treasurer for four years. She is also one of the founding Directors for the Gillespie County Wild Game Dinner, a non-profit, charitable organization. This event is in its eighth year and draws a crowd of over 1,500 folks to raise funds to support agriculture, youth education, and rural living in the Hill Country. She also just completed another two years as Club Manager for the Willow Creek 4-H Club and recently was awarded Outstanding Adult Leader by the Gillespie County AgriLife Extension. For three years she served as an Executive Director (Treasurer) for the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce which is instrumental in bringing the Stonewall Peach JAMboree & Rodeo to the community each year. In addition to all of this, she, of course, is a dedicated board member of the LSC Foundation. All of her endeavors to support the youth in her community and throughout the state are due to her love of the 4-H commitment to “make the best better”!

She, her husband, and children have been involved in showing steers and other animals for over 14 years now, and she cannot imagine a better way to teach a child responsibility, compassion, endurance, a good work ethic, and social skills! She and her husband continue to be mentors to younger folks in the community to give them the opportunity to excel and learn about what it takes to grow a successful livestock project. They are also very dedicated to purchasing youth livestock projects throughout the state. They have been a Top Ten Buyer at the Gillespie County Livestock Show for several years now, as well as monetary supporters of the Star’s Youth Livestock Auction.
